Finding Help & Support
Looking for help with your relationship or family?
Marriage Foundation is a research and educational charity and as such, we do not provide relationship counselling, therapy or direct support ourselves.
However, we know that relationships and family life can bring both wonderful and difficult times. You may be thinking about getting married, wanting to strengthen your relationship, struggling with a particular issue, adjusting to becoming parents, or facing separation.
Because we care about strong, committed relationships and the wellbeing of children, we have brought together organisations and resources that may be able to help.
Whatever stage of family life you are in, we hope this gives you somewhere useful to start.
Not sure where to begin?
If you are not sure what kind of help you need, your local family support services can often be a good first step.
Find local family support
England: Family Hubs provide a local “front door” offering support for babies, children, young people and families. Services vary from one area to another and can include parenting support, relationship support, help with finances, mental health support and support for children and young people.
Find your local Family Hub – GOV.UK
Wales: Family Information Services provide information about services and support for children, young people and families.
Find your local Family Information Service – Welsh Government
Scotland: Whilst there isn’t a central Hub, there are national organisations that can point you in the right direction:
Parenting Across Scotland and Parent Network Scotland
Northern Ireland: Local family support services provide a range of help for families. Your local authority or family support service is a good place to start.
What kind of help are you looking for?
Specialist Support
Some situations require specialist help rather than general relationship support. This can include domestic abuse, coercive control, addiction, significant mental health difficulties, financial problems or concerns about the safety of a child or adult.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
For specialist services, please seek support from an organisation with appropriate expertise in the particular issue you are facing.
A Note from Marriage Foundation
