- WEDDING COSTS are often cited as the major reason young couples haven’t got married. A glitzy wedding is a huge perceived barrier to marriage, especially for the poorest who quite sensibly prefer to spend their money on daily life. But in our new survey we found the cost of weddings is way lower than the big wedding industry would have you believe. A half of couples spend more than £5-10k. A half spend less.
